The BAL.ON Heatmap

The BAL.ON heatmap displays your weight shift during your golf swing. You can trace it in colour-coded graphics and numeric values. BAL.ON’s inner workings rely on pressure, the force you generate into the ground through your feet. This force is related to, but not identical with your weight. Specifically, we measure the pressure ratio between left and right, hence the percentage values shown above.

Why do your feet matter in hitting the ball with a club?

Good swing technique involves interacting with the ground. The pressure exerted through your feet gives an indication on the quality of your leg work. Your leg work indicates what you do with your hips. Your hips are an anchor for your trunk, which is finally influencing your shoulders, arms, and ultimately your club.

Your motion’s footprint.

In other words, pressure can literally be considered the »footprint« of your entire motion chain. If something’s amiss with that motion, say the hip movement, it will show in the pressure. In some instances, the only way it will ever show at all, is in fact in the pressure data. For the purpose of weight shift visualization, pressure data are extremely valuable.

An objective indicator of excellence.

Therefore, pressure generation is a very telling indicator whether your motion is within »a corridor of the ideal«, as we say at BAL.ON, or if it is not. We are not rating you along one fixed value or percentage ratio. Instead, we measure whether you are in a value bracket that can be considered ideal by international pro standards.
